At the beginning of May, M.Sc. Ilgaz Oktay has joined the Professorship of Bioprocess Engineering as Research Associate. She will focus on the upscaling of the hydrogenase production for the CirculH2 project to accelerate the use of H2 as a clean, circular, and renewable reactant in industrial biotechnology. Ms. Oktay completed her bachelor’s degree in Food Engineering at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. During this time, she worked on the food safety issues caused by climate change and participated in the Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs program with her start-up idea focusing on responsible nutrition for schoolchildren. From 2020 to 2023, she completed her Master’s in Chemical Biotechnology at the Technical University of Munich, focusing on the sustainable downstream processing of biopharmaceuticals. During her master’s studies, Ilgaz worked as an Academia Representative at Sartorius Stedim Biotech. In this role, she supported startups and labs in accelerating the discovery of potential therapies by providing consulting on technical and business development aspects.
